Enchanted Forest Styled Elopement // Roan High Bluff, TN
Last month I had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate on a gorgeous styled elopement shoot with Roan Wedding & Events, a WNC-based event planning company. They sent me a absolutely stunning Pinterest inspiration board filled with moody textures, quartz, florals, and natural elements, and once I saw it, I knew I was in!
While I knew the shoot was going to be stunning and down-my-alley stylistically, I wasn't prepared for just how gorgeous everything was going to be! While gorgeous mountain views certainly aren't in short supply in WNC and TN, Roan Mountain provided the sort of moody, PNW vibes I had been longing for. Vintage Indigo Rentals crafted the perfect middle of the forest table setup, complete with layered textures of fur, crystals and gems, gold, and wood. Not to mention, how cool are those acrylic chairs?
The florals, from It Can Be Arranged, perfectly suited the setting, and enhanced the natural beauty of the location. "Our goal was to play off of the natural setting of Roan Mountain with a foraged feel," she noted. "We also wanted to play with the contrast of light and dark so, White Protea was used as our bold focal flower against an array of greens that included Grevillia, Eucalyptus, Millet, Lily Grass, Ruscus and Salal."
I was thrilled to work with model Brooklynn Stutzman again, and first-time-model Thomas Crown did quite a good job as well! You would never know it, but they had actually met earlier in the day.
I especially love the crystal headpiece Brooklynn is wearing from Judy & Madeleine. The way the light hits the crown and illuminates her like a halo amplifies the mystical and angelic vibe of the shoot.
I loved the opportunity to work with several talented WNC wedding vendors, including some who have become friends of mine, and I hope to be able to work with them in the future as well!
For most of the shoot, I used a low aperture to create a dreamy effect, and I chose to shoot with a 35mm 1.4 lens to create a wide, cinematic feel to the shots. In post, I deepened the greens and slightly accentuated the oranges to give the shots a lush, earthy feel.
After shooting in the forest, we walked over to the High Bluff area of Roan Mountain, and shot on a mountaintop field of grass. It was insanely beautiful, and provided a strikingly different mood from the previous images. I just feel bad for whoever was in charge of carrying this gorgeous sofa up the trail!
Let me know what you think of these images! Could you see yourself getting married on top of a mountain?
Many thanks to the incredibly talented team of vendors who helped make this shoot a reality!
